A: What accessories do you wear everyday?

A wristwatch.

B: What is your beauty routine?

In the morning, I take a shower and shave. I also cut my nails as necessary. That's about it.

C: What was the last item of clothing that you purchased for yourself?

Can't remember.

D: Do you use a dresser, closet, or both?

A dresser and a very small closet. Also the back of a chair, which holds about half the clothes I own.

E: What type of earrings are in your ears right now?

None.

F: What type of figure do you have?

Average height, not quite thin, solid. Everything where it belongs; no externalized stomach or anything like that.

G: Do you wear glasses?

No.

H: What type of handbag do you carry?

My mother carries a handbag. I have pockets. If I need to carry more stuff than will fit in my pockets, I use a plastic shopping bag or a cardboard box.

I: What is your ideal style?

Clothing that no one remembers 10 minutes after seeing me.

J: What jewelry are you wearing right now?

None.

K: Do you wear knee-high stockings?

Only with a kilt. Which is to say, never.

L: Do you *have* to wear matching lingerie?

I have no idea what 'matching lingerie' would mean in my case, so probably not.

M: Do you wear makeup?

Never.

N: Do you wear nightgowns?

No. Well, I have a plaid flannel nightshirt that someone gave me for Christmas, but I only wore it once.

O: What outerwear do you put on when going out on a typical Winter's day?

A Thinsulate-filled parka, toque, gloves, Sorel snow boots, sometimes a wool scarf.

P: What is your favorite perfume?

Don't have one. I wear unscented everything.

Q: Is your motto "quality over quantity" when it comes to clothing and accessories?

I usually go with 'neither.'

R: Do you wear rain boots?

Not since I was 6 or so.

S: Do you wear socks or slippers when your feet get cold?

Socks, if it's cold enough.

T: Do you have a set of travel luggage?

I have a suitcase, and I have a gym bag. Does that constitute a set?

U: What is your daily uniform?

Usually, khakis and a cotton shirt, all in tranquilizing neutrals, for work; jeans and T-shirt at home.

V: If you are married, did you wear a veil with your wedding dress? If not, how did you do your hair?

N/A

W: Do you wear a watch?

Yes. A cheap one.

X: What item of clothing always makes you feel extremely beautiful?

I don't think I've found it yet.

Y: What is your favorite type of yarn?

Yarn? I don't have a favourite yarn. Who the hell has a favourite yarn?? Unless you mean the kind Grandpa tells to while away the long winter nights.

Z: Do you prefer zippers or buttons?

Can't decide. Buttons add interest, but the zipper makes that cheerful little noise, announcing good things to come.

Below is, to the best of my recollection, a bit of conversation that took place between the SO and myself while watching the Toronto/Tampa Bay game earlier this evening.
Be honest; I'd really like to know. Is it:

A. The stupidest conversation ever to take place concerning the Toronto Blue Jays
B. The stupidest conversation about baseball
C. The stupidest conversation about sports in general, or
D. The stupidest conversation, period?

(B. J. Upton had just come up to bat.)
Me: I'd like to see him playing for the Jays.

BD: B. J. Upton?

Me: Yes.

BD: Well, they already have an A. J., so then they'd have a B. J.

Me: And they could start looking for a C. J.

BD: And so on through the entire alphabet?

Me: Sure.

BD: They'd have trouble finding an X. J.

Me: Maybe they could find a player named, like, Xavier Jesus.

BD: But I think they spell it with a J.

Me: What, Jesus?

BD: No, Javier.

I attended a small, outdoor Midsummer Day party this afternoon, which leads me to suspect, yet again, that I'm running with the wrong crowd. It was washed out by a sudden, severe rainstorm, so I get to come home and watch the Blue Jays, rather than take the chance of spontaneous, naked dancing cropping up as the evening wore on.

The Summer Solstice, according to some, is celebrated as the day of the marriage of the sun and the earth. This caused a huge controversy at the time, since conservative elements believed that marriage should only take place between a planet and a planet, or between a star and a star. None of this mixing things up! It all worked out, though, and the couple remains on good terms to this day. Except for the occasional spat, which is when you get violent storms like today's

My vacuum cleaner clogged again. I want a Dyson.

Why do I want a Dyson? Not because I know first-hand that they're better. I've never owned one or used one. I've never had anyone recommend the brand, or read a consumer report on Dyson vacuum cleaners.
The only reason I'm convinced that they're superior is that (A) they're incredibly expensive, and (B) the inventor of the Dyson, an intelligent-looking, grey-haired man with a British accent, appears in the commercials talking about his vacuum cleaner mechanism as if it were cold fusion.
I think it's the British accent that clinches it. Whatever it is, it leaves me convinced that, if I spent $700 or so on a Dyson, I'd never again find myself on the floor, trying to dig stuff out of the vacuum hose with a barbecue fork.
Actually, the fork wasn't nearly long enough, and I switched to a wooden chopstick. It was a bit alarming, because a good part of the clog consisted of feathers. Why? Where did they come from? Don't own a parakeet or anything like that. It's not possible to suck an entire bird into the vacuum cleaner without noticing, is it? I kept digging, and reminding myself that using a big, long knife to dig out the clog wasn't really a good idea, however much it seemed like a good idea, and feathers kept coming out.
After about 10 minutes, I went and got a big, long knife. I was careful with it, though. More feathers. Tons of them. BD wandered in and stood there, watching, apparently finding the sight of me on my hands and knees, coughing up dust mites and digging silt out of a plastic hose, highly suggestive. Don't even think about it, buddy; I've got a big, long knife in my hand! His timing sucks sometimes.
I finally went and got a screwdriver, took the entire thing apart, removed the rest of the feathers, and put it back together. Swept up thousands of feathers and clumps of dust, finished vacuuming. Took the better part of an hour.

A Dunkin' Donuts ad featuring Rachel Ray was withdrawn after numerous complaints that the ad showed Ms. Ray supporting terrorism, as opposed to just bad fashion choices.
A scarf she wears in the ad, according to viewers, "offers symbolic support for Muslim extremism and terrorism."
The offending garment:

According to the AP article: "Critics, including conservative commentator Michelle Malkin, complained that the scarf wrapped around her looked like a kaffiyeh, the traditional Arab headdress. Critics who fuelled online complaints about the ad in blogs say such scarves have come to symbolize Muslim extremism and terrorism."

Political moderates continue to boycott the Dunkin' Donuts chain until they agree to spell 'doughnuts' correctly.

I am the sonnet, never quickly thrilled;
Not prone to overstated gushing praise
Nor yet to seething rants and anger, filled
With overstretched opinions to rephrase;
But on the other hand, not fond of fools,
And thus, not fond of people, on the whole;
And holding to the sound and useful rules,
Not those that seek unjustified control.
I'm balanced, measured, sensible (at least,
I think I am, and usually I'm right);
And when more ostentatious types have ceased,
I'm still around, and doing, still, alright.

I'm just going to erase it from my memory.

I was getting over the final traces of an incredibly persistent virus just as the weather finally turned. The first day we had real spring weather, I went out and started doing yard work. Digging and raking while not wearing a jacket for the first time in many months is the very essence of carefree optimism. It was a very happy 40 minutes or so.
Then I threw my back out. I don't even know how, since I wasn't doing anything particularly athletic, but it was an inspired back-throwing. I spent the next several days barely able to stand upright or do anything more strenuous than swallow codeine tablets. Which, incidentally, don't offer any kind of recreational buzz. I managed to drag myself, with difficulty, to the chiropractor's for daily treatment until I could sit, stand, and lie down more or less every time I tried to. I'm now physically at the level of a relatively healthy man in his 80s, so things are looking up. Sheesh.

I have to be in fairly good shape by this weekend; there's a family wedding, and I need to arrive ready to participate.
